NRB freezes bank accounts of NSMF chairman

The bank accounts and property of Yogendra Prasad Shrestha, chairman of Nepal Share Markets and Finance (NSMF), suspecting his involvement in financial irregularities.
According to the central bank, Shrestha has been accused of involvement in irregularities while issuing loans worth Rs. 1 billion.
The central bank directed to freeze the bank accounts of Shrestha after he failed to submit documents sought by its inspection team regarding loans sanction.
Shrestha resigned form his post after NRB sought clarification over suspected irregularities. However, Shrestha said he was ready to face any kind of penalty if found guilty.

According to a source, the NRB inspection team has been working on the Shrestha case. If he is found guilty, the case will be transferred to Nepal Police for further investigation.
