Economic experts flay parties for budget delay

Economic experts have said parties' irresponsible act was to blame for delay in bringing this fiscal year's budget.

Speaking at an interaction organised by Janasanchar Abhiyan, Nepal, in the Capital today, former Chief Secretary Dr. Bimal Koirala said since leaders were hell-bent on party interests, budget couldn't be brought on time.

"Leaders put party interests above national interests and blame each other later. An economic crisis is looming in the country as the tendency of disregarding other parties' existence is increasing," he said.

Former Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri said parties have been doing the needful even though they are well aware of the present situation. Thus, the country could not get budget yet, he said.
