NEA board scraps 'disputed' promoter company of Upper Trishuli 3-B HEP


A board meeting of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) decided to dissolve the disputed company registered by some of the NEA officials for promoting the construction of the Upper Trishuli 3-B Hydroelectric Project.
The first meeting chaired by Minister for Energy Gokarna Bista on Tuesday night decided to scrap the company and register a new company considering all probable loopholes.
s per the agreement, the new company will be registered with the provision of 30 per cent share each to NEA and Nepal Telecom (NT), 10 per cent for project affected locals of Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts, 10 per cent for local authorities, 15 per cent for the general public and five per cent for NEA and NT staffs.
Earlier in January, the former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal instructed the NEA officials who claimed as promoters and shareholders to dissolve the company.
Following such instruction, the foundation laying scheduled for January 27 was cancelled at the last hour.
The board also decided to sign a loan agreement with the NT for the construction of the project.
